When I have an idea for a product or installation, I love to sketch out my idea with simple stick figures and color palettes. This is often the beginning stages of my inspiration. From here, I can start to imagine more high fidelity prototypes and find problems that I might overlook when creating immediately on a digital platform.
This sketch below is when I was thinking through visual elements for my thesis project titled Oscuridad, Walking Through the Darkness. After visiting Puerto Rico in January 2018, 4 months after Hurricane Irma and Maria destroyed the power grid of the island, I decided to attempt to visually recreate some of the imagery and feelings I felt while being there. This was one idea on how to possibly end or begin the first scene.
