I started recording ambiance sound and interesting conversations with strangers when I started traveling two years ago. I began a three month trip that began in Thailand and finished in Europe. Before going on this trip I had found out that I was accepted in the Parsons School of Design for Design & Technology. I was struggling with the idea of going away three months just before moving away from my family and the life I made in Phoenix, AZ. At this point in time, I started audio recording family moments and funny conversations, even if I've heard them a million times. I wanted to be able to listen to my loved ones while traveling and center myself on where home was even if I was thousands of miles away.
Over time, I continued recording throughout my entire trip and to this day when I make my way around New York City. I have an idea that I've talked through with my classmate and friend Vishaal about creating a digital product focused on this concept of a sound diary. Within this space of Brnt Tortilla I'd like to begin prototyping the ideas. Over the course of the summer I will begin to find some of my favorite recordings and prototype out wireframes. Here are some audio moments that I recorded this past month.
This past month I also graduated from Parsons and been finding myself having a lot of interesting conversations with people about energy and awakening to something within ourselves. This conversation was with my Lyft Driver just before seeing my parents who had just arrived to celebrate and support my graduation.
